Officials and enforcers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday, Dec. 19, channeled their inner Santa as they handed out grocery packs to motorists along EDSA.
MMDA chief Romando Artes led the “ticket or treat” project along with other officials, distributing “noche buena” packages, a reward to select motorcycle riders.
"We will apprehend riders who are violating traffic rules and regulations but we will also give them grocery packages for the Christmas season," Artes said.
MMDA said it was expecting an upsurge of passengers in the Metro from Dec. 22 onwards.
MMDA together with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, Land Transportation Office, and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board would inspect bus terminals to guarantee passengers’ safety this holiday season.
