The Land Transportation Office (LTO), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the local government units (LGUs) are working on the implementation of a single ticketing system (STS) to standardize apprehension for traffic violators across Metro Manila.
In a statement, LTO said the proposed STS was tackled during the third meeting of the Technical Working Group (TWG) held Tuesday.
The agency said that the STS will lay out the unified penalties for the following violations: disregarding traffic signs, illegal parking (attended and unattended), reckless driving, driving without a license, driving an unregistered vehicle, overspeeding, illegal counterflow, number coding violations, and obstruction.
Also discussed in the meeting are the enforcement of the tricycle ban on national highways and their required speed limit as well as a ban on trucks and light trucks, LTO said.
Meanwhile, the agency said the MMDA suggested the inclusion of the failure of wearing helmets and the use of a substandard helmet in the violations.
“Sa ngayon ay isinasapinal pa ng mga miyembro ng TWG ang makatwirang halaga ng multa na ipapataw sa mga hindi sumusunod sa batas-trapiko,” the LTO said.
Newly-appointed LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo ‘Jay Art’ Tugade assured that the proposed policy will undergo a public consultation in order to enforce it efficiently.
"So ngayon po, meron pa tayong challenges. Hopefully, we can address the concerns, legally, ‘yung mga kinaharap natin. To address the timeline, siguro po mga earliest next year na po natin mapapatupad ito assuming everything goes well in the next coming weeks," Tugade said, as quoted by the LTO.
