The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) are considering increasing fines and suspending driving licenses for unauthorized vehicles passing the EDSA Carousel Lane, according to MMDA acting chairperson Atty. Ronaldo “Don” Artes.
In an interview with DZRH’s Huntahan, the consideration comes after some buses were stuck during the heavy rain due to unauthorized vehicles that entered but could not pass the lane in EDSA due to the flood.
While there are many repeat violators, particularly the motorists who rush and can pay the current fine of P1,000 if caught.
He also said that he has talked and agreed with LTO Chief Atty. Vigor Mendoza II.
The EDSA Carousel is exclusive to buses, only allowing emergency vehicles and government-marked vehicles to pass through the said lane.
