The walls of EDSA are undergoing a facelift, as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and iAcademy students prepare to hand-paint past Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) film posters for the festival’s 50th edition.

In a press release on Friday, the MMDA announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with iAcademy to create a mural along EDSA, as a way to creatively promote the 50th edition of MMFF under the theme “Sine-Sigla sa Singkwenta.”

“We will make EDSA nostalgic through murals of hand-painted movie posters to celebrate the rich history of MMFF,” MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said.

The colorful display would also provide the audience with a hint of nostalgia, and allow them to reminisce about their favorite childhood films.

The proposed locations for the mural along EDSA would span from Buendia to Ayala, approximately 653 meters long. The partnership aims to push EDSA forward as a cultural landmark for visitors and locals.

iAcademy Operating Officer Raquel Wong expressed her gratitude to MMDA for entrusting them with the program, as it symbolizes their shared commitment to the creative use and enhancement of public spaces.

“The artworks of our students will showcase not only their skills but the Filipino life, community, and creativity. We are excited to show that these artworks will inspire and remind everyone of the power of creative collaboration in shaping our urban environment,” Wong said.

The program is aligned with MMDA’s mandate and advocacy on Road Safety.
