The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has signed a memorandum of agreement with Global Electric Transport (GET) Philippines to launch the Electric Love Bus Program, a free public transport initiative aimed at improving urban mobility and reducing pollution in Metro Manila.
MMDA Chairman Don Artes and GET Philippines President Sigfrido Tinga led the signing ceremony at the MMDA Head Office in Pasig City. Artes said the initiative supports the vision of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for a safer, more reliable, and accessible public transportation system.
Under the partnership, MMDA will oversee route management, enforcement support, and infrastructure coordination, while GET Philippines will handle the operation and maintenance of the fully electric buses. The project is backed by corporate sponsors, including Robinsons Land Corporation, Megaworld Corporation, Ortigas Land, and International Solid Waste Integrated Management Specialist, Inc.
The 30-seater electric buses—described as cleaner, quieter, and more modern—are expected to ease congestion along the C5 corridor while cutting commuters’ travel costs. Ten Love Bus units will initially be deployed, each making five to six trips daily from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 or 10:00 p.m., depending on passenger demand.
Approved by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the routes will connect key commercial and business hubs, including Robinsons Galleria, Estancia Mall, Arcovia, Eastwood City, Tiendesitas, and other major stops along C5. The program is scheduled to launch in late April or early May, with plans for expansion to other local government units across the National Capital Region.
Officials said the Electric Love Bus Program demonstrates how government and private sector collaboration can deliver sustainable, commuter-friendly solutions while advancing environmental and urban development goals.
