The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) coordinated with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to discuss adjustments to public transportation's operating hours this December.
A report by RH Edniel Parrosa mentioned that this includes the operations of buses and trains, such as the MRT and LRT, which had previously been announced to have extended schedules for the holiday season.
In an interview with DZRH on Sunday, DOTr Undersecretary Andy Ortega confirmed that the MMDA has formally communicated with the agency regarding its request to extend the operating hours of trains and the EDSA Busway.
This follows the decision to move mall opening hours to 11:00 AM.
“It will be based on a meeting or a communication with DOTr. Siguro po hopefully by next week po titignan po natin dapat po mayroon na tayong announcement para ma-assure naman po natin ang mga manananakay," said Ortega.
As of this first Monday of December at 7:00 AM, traffic along EDSA southbound remains moderate up to the Ortigas area due to the high volume of vehicles.
Meanwhile, Ortigas' eastbound lane is heavily congested, stretching from the bridge to the entry point of Pasig City.
