A trucking company employee, who had been reported missing by relatives, was discovered dead in a ravine in San Pascual, Batangas on Sunday, August 6.
Authorities identified the decomposing remains of Jake Pamudulan, 28, an employee of Troy Daniel Trucking Services, at around 12:40 a.m. in Barangay del Pilar.
According to case investigator Cpl. Kristian Joseph Gonzales, the missing person was strangled to death by a 16-year-old suspect who led officers to the location of the victim's corpse.
The minor, who was turned over to the local social welfare office, informed investigators that he strangled the victim during a fight.
The suspect claimed that the victim he just met on August 3 was a homosexual who wanted to have sexual intercourse with him, which he declined, causing a fight that led to the killing.
The minor confessed in the presence of his father.
On Saturday, Pamudulan's brother Juven reported to the police that the victim had not returned home.
Relatives uploaded images of the victim on social media, asking netizens for assistance in locating him.
Following the posts on social media, the suspect appeared at the village hall of Barangay Pook na Banal and informed officials that he discovered the victim's motorcycle at Barangay del Pilar.
Village officials turned over the suspect to the police for further investigation.
