A missing fisherman was found in the vicinity waters off Panigayan, Malamawi, Isabela City Basilan on Monday, February 5, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported.
The fisherman was identified as Resel Edgar, 23, who was reportedly missing on February 4 after he went to fish but failed to return home early on February 5.
According to Edgar, he was hit by an unidentified motorbanca while fishing, which resulted in damage to his motorbanca's maneuverability.
PCG has carried out a search and rescue (SAR) mission.
At around 10:30 a.m., Edgar was sighted in the vicinity waters between Lampinigan Island and Panigayan on board his motorbike with the engine dead.
PCG said the rescued fisherman was brought to Coast Guard Sub-Station Malamawi for a health check-up and damage assessment.
