Tensions within the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) intensified on Tuesday, November 4, after a heated confrontation between Thai pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil and Mexico’s delegate, Fatima Bosch, led to a walkout by several candidates.

In a livestream by Miss Universe Thailand, Nawat—head of the host country’s organizing committee and owner of the Miss Universe Thailand franchise—was seen calling out Bosch for missing a sponsor shoot.

When the Mexican candidate tried to explain, Nawat reportedly told her to “be quiet or leave,” prompting Bosch to walk out. Several Latin American and other delegates followed suit despite Nawat’s attempt to stop them.

Reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark was also seen leaving the hall in apparent solidarity with the delegates.

The incident highlights the growing power struggle between MUO President Raul Rocha of Mexico and Nawat, who also heads the rival Miss Grand International pageant and serves as MUO’s vice president for Asia and Oceania.

The dispute has caused friction in the ongoing Bangkok pageant, including disagreements over sponsorships, social media control, and event management.

MUO earlier restricted Nawat’s access to the main Miss Universe accounts after a row over an “unauthorized” online poll and conflicting sponsor deals

Despite the controversy, organizers confirmed that the sashing ceremony will proceed as scheduled, with Theilvig set to preside.

The Miss Universe 2025 coronation night will be held on November 21 at the IMPACT Arena, Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani.
