The Mindanao's Panguil Bay Bridge Project (PBBP) overall weighted accomplishment is at 93.3 percent presently and should be completed within the third quarter of 2024, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

With a worth of over P7.3 billion, the PBBP is in its final stage of construction, a milestone celebrated at its last concrete pouring ceremony on July 4.

The 3.169-kilometer infrastructure will be the longest bridge on the island. It will have a 320-meter extra-dosed main bridge, a 1,920-meter pre-stressed concrete girder approach bridge, and a 929-meter approach road.

"The topping-off ceremony marked the completion of the bridge’s pre-stressed concrete box girder between pylon 1 in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental, and pylon 2 in Tubod, Lanao del Norte, signifying a crucial milestone for the project," reads DPWH's statement.

Meanwhile, Senior Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain praised the dedication and diligence of all individuals who have carried the project thus far. Panguil Bridge would give rise to "a new era of connectivity and economic growth" as it opens the door to opportunities for tourism, trade, and investment to benefit Mindanao communities and the entire country.

From two hours' travel time, the distance between Tangub and Tubod can be covered in a mere seven minutes upon the bridge's completion.
