The Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) will screen ten Filipino films in Los Angeles for the global audience to see.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the ten entries of the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will be given awards that are separate and independent from those of last year.
The films are set to win awards in the following categories: Special Jury Prize, best picture, best director, best actor, best actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay, and Best Cinematography.
The winners of Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay would receive Final Draft Software’s latest version through a partnership with Birns & Sawyer.
MMDA chair Romando Artes considered the MIFF as “vital in further uplifting the quality of Filipino films as it reaches foreign moviegoers.”
"I am confident that the success of the MMFF in Manila last December can be replicated through the support of our Filipino community in LA and the international audience. I believe this MIFF will further validate the fact that Filipino films are truly exceptional and world-class," he said.
The screening will run from January 29 to February 2 at TCL Chinese Theatres and DGA Theater Complex in Los Angeles, California.
