The terminals 2 and 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) are now 'surot-free,' a Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) official said Friday.
In a radio interview, MIAA Head Executive Assistant Chris Noel Bendijo said the airport chairs in the said terminals are now free from bed bugs.
"We have examined, we have inspected our seats, safe po ang ating mga upuan," Bendijo said.
"All rattan chairs, which are exclusive to Terminal 2, were also pulled out and will be replaced with gang chairs from other terminals.“‘Yun pong sa Terminal 2, lahat po ay pina-pull out na po ni GM (General Manager Eric Ines). Based dito sa initial recommendation ng ating pest control service provider, pati na rin ng ating terminal manager, mukhang medyo permanent muna na hindi ibabalik ito pong mga rattan chair," he continued.
Earlier this week, two Facebook post showing the alleged bed bugs or surot found in the steel and rattan chairs in NAIA terminals went viral on social media.
MIAA has since apologized for the incident and removed the seats infested by the bed bugs.
