From January to March, more than 10.8 million people passed through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, which represents a 158% increase in passengers compared to the first quarter of 2022.

The Manila International Airport Authority reported on Sunday that 10,855,332 passengers passed through the airport in the year's first three months. 4,200,575 passengers passed through Manila's main entrance in the same quarter of 2022.

This year, only 6% of travelers have been recorded, which is lower than the pre-COVID-19 pandemic number of travelers.

The MIAA said that this year's record is only 6% less than the 11,587,919 tourists that traveled before the COVID-19 outbreak during the same period in 2019.

Flight movements throughout the first three months of the year totaled 67,781, which is a 77% increase over the previous high of 38,269 during the same period in 2017.

This is 4% more flights than were registered in 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which totaled 65,161.

The largest monthly flight and passenger totals since the COVID-19 pandemic were 23,399 flights in March 2023 and 3,766,546 people in January 2023, according to MIAA.

After the reopening of a nation's borders and the lifting of travel restrictions, travelers have recovered confidence to fly for business and pleasure, according to MIAA General Manager Cesar Chiong.
