The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) conveyed its confidence that the flights would be on time during the Undas season.
This came after the agency’s On-Time Performance (OTP) rating sustained its peak at 80 percent in September, recording an average OTS of 82.38 percent from the 13,519 flights that operated at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
"With the commitment of our airline and industry partners, we aim to maintain our strong OTP record from the Lenten rush this year," MIAA’s Officer in Charge Bryan Co said in a statement, citing their average OTP of 84.76 percent during the Holy Week.
"Our objective is to minimize crowding in passenger and aircraft movement areas through the timely dispatch of flights. We're striving to establish this as a norm at NAIA. Thanks to our partnerships with airlines and government agencies, passengers are starting to notice a positive shift in NAIA operations,” he added.
Following the peak statistics of the agency, Co “remained positive” that the OTP’s rising trend would be sustained during the peak season.
He added that several airlines developed their respective contingency plans to “avoid compromising passenger comfort.”
Cebu Pacific increased its spare aircraft number, Philippine Airlines launched a paid lounge for the passengers’ comfort, and budget carrier Air Asia is planning to establish customer help desks.
