Last year, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) regional office here issued 757 geohazard certifications as part of the implementation of government projects.
MGB Eastern Visayas regional director Carlos Tayag stated that geohazard certificates have been issued to ensure the safety of government projects and to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
In an interview on Monday, Tayag stated that the certificate is necessary for the proponents of all multi-year programs, activities, and projects which are implemented by national government agencies and state universities and colleges.
577 of the 757 certificates were issued in the province of Leyte, 65 in Eastern Samar, 62 in Samar, 44 in Southern Leyte, and nine in Biliran.
The number of certificates issued is lower than the 1,272 documents issued during the peak of the Build, Build, Build Program implementation in 2021.
Before obtaining the certificate, implementors must submit the following documents: a location map, a Google image of the location, site photos with descriptions, a sketch plan, a drainage plan, and a site development plan.
