Metro Manila will be under longer curfew hours from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM starting Friday, August 6 as the region reverts to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
The announcement was made by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benhur Abalos on Monday.
"Napagbotohan po ito at unanimous sila. Starting August 6, magiging 8 PM to 4 AM na ang curfew," Abalos said in a media briefing.
Authorities have also deployed police personnel to quarantine checkpoints in NCR, where inbound and outbound travel will be restricted starting Friday until August 20, 2021.
Abalos added that the liquor ban will depend on the respective local government units.
Metro Manila has been placed under ECQ for two weeks in order to combat the spread of the highly contagious Delta COVID-19 variant.
So far, the Philippines has already logged 200 cases of which 17 were still active, as per the Department of Health (DOH).
