Miss World 2013 Megan Young has expressed her apologies after touching the hair of Lesego Chombo, or Miss Botswana, during the question and answer portion of the recent Miss World Africa 2024.

The Miss World title holder drew flak from African pageant fans after fixing a tendril of Chombo’s hair from her face before she was asked to give her pitch to the “sharks of Shark Tank India” during the coronation night of the 71st Miss World on March 9.

"Last night during the final, I fixed Lesego Chombo’s (Miss Botswana) hair on stage. I wanted to offer a helping hand, but I failed to oversee the bigger picture. This could have caused distress during that moment, and I have been made aware that culturally, this is unacceptable," Young said in a post on her official Facebook page.

Young also apologized to viewers for the "discomfort or confusion" her actions may have caused.

While the TV host-actress said she and Chombo had spoken privately after the event, she apologized.

"I assure you that it was not my intention to invade personal space or make anyone feel uncomfortable. I deeply regret my actions and will strive to be more mindful and respectful in the future," Young said.
