According to a professor from the University of the Philippines, President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. will likely meet with the Chinese government and discuss the relationship between the Philippines and China after his trip from the US.

In a forum, Dr. Chester Cabalza said that the President will come home because of the ASEAN summit and that China will discuss with the national government to talk about the relationship between the two countries.

China is arranging a plan for the Philippines since the competition between the US and China is strong, Cabalza added.

We’ll be expecting that from China since they present lines of communications from them and that project came from the coast guard diplomacy last 2017, Cabalza said when asked about if the meeting with the US would decrease China’s assertiveness at Ayungin Shoal.

The UP professor added that the action should come from China since the Philippines is doing its best to have a good relationship with the other nation.

After his US trip, the President is now in the United Kingdom for the coronation of King Charles III which took place last May 6, and will be going to the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Indonesia.
