The Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) on Tuesday, January 16, said that verseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Taiwan can now apply for a multiple re-entry visa as stated in the new immigration policy from Taipei.
According to MECO chairman Silvestre Bello III, they were delighted with the latest development which would lessen OFWs' burden and could save them time and money while processing travel documents to Taiwan.
The MECO mentioned that over 150,000 OFWs in Taiwan would be assisted with multiple entry visas, which saves resources that are allotted for processing travel documents.
igrant Workers Office in Kaohsiung director David De Dicang explained the process for the OFWs to apply for their multiple re-entry visas.
He said that vacationing OFWs must inform their Taiwan Manpower Agencies three weeks prior to their scheduled departure so that ample time could be given to replace the Alien Resident Certificate that would indicate the entitlement of the multiple entry visa.
Dicang mentioned that the reentry permit is for multiple uses, and its validity shall not exceed the period of ARC, explaining that a canceled work permit would also make the validity of the reentry visa canceled.
Also, he reminded the OFWs to strictly follow the designated return period to Taiwan, as extended vacations may lead to absence without leave, which would result in the cancellation of their work permit or ARC, stopping them from entering Taiwan.
