The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced on Friday the temporary closure of the Manila Central University (MCU) footbridge in Monumento Station, Caloocan City starting next month.
In an advisory, DOTr said that the closure will begin in October 2 and will last until November 2, 2023.
The closure was made following the ongoing station improvements by the DOTr and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at the EDSA Busway Monumento Station.
“Upang hindi maantala ang biyahe ng mga pasahero at gayundin ang mga pedestrian na gumagamit ng nasabing footbridge, pinapayuhan ang lahat na gamitin muna ang EDSA-Boni Serrano (5th street) footbridge,” said DOTr.
The department added that the station improvements in Monumento are part of the extensive rehabilitation of the EDSA Busway, where it is intended to improve the current service.
These include installing a surveillance system, extending and expanding existing stations, providing additional access to footbridges, and other PWD-friendly infrastructure.
