Bigger smiles are now seen on the faces of Filipinos nationwide as MBC Operation Tulong continues its mission to provide aid and facilitate meaningful changes in the lives of Filipinos.

Launched last November 11, MBC Operation Tulong reached a wider scope of people who are in need through the participation of our radio stations in different parts of the country, such as DZRH, Love Radio, Yes the Best, Easy Rock, and Aksyon Radyo stations.

With 200 radio stations around the country, medical aid and relief assistance were felt by several communities in La Union, Baguio, Dagupan, Laoag, Lucena, San Fernando, Santiago, Tarlac, Bacolod, Cebu, Iloilo, Tacloban, Butuan, Davao, General Santos City, and Cagayan de Oro.

Started in 1978, the flagship radio station of MBC, DZRH began its social responsibility initiative through a simple mission manned by radio anchors led by Manny Calpito, who responded to requests from indigent listeners for financial assistance to buy medicines.

Looking back, Operation Tulong's "bayanihan" started with volunteer taxi drivers' role in gathering donations pledged on air via the station’s evening programs, prompting them to receive an award from Pope John Paul II during his visit.

DZRH Operation Tulong later elevated its public service by allowing listeners to air their grievances, call on missing relatives worldwide, seek help for free legal assistance, or appeal to government officials to act on issues and complaints.

In 1983, DZRH was recognized as the Best Public Service Program in the country as it received the Radio Hall of Fame from the Catholic Mass Media Awards.

Currently, Mae Binauhan, dubbed as the wonder woman of DZRH, has been constantly working on feeding programs, medical and dental missions, bloodletting activities, job fairs, and other outreach activities in cooperation with LGUs, medical associations, and private entities.

She also received several awards for being in the DZRH Operation Tulong's frontline.

With collaboration with the International Council for Small Business Philippines and different Rotary Clubs, Operation Tulong is able to provide business opportunities to poor families living in Metro Manila.
