Manila Mayor Isko Moreno welcomed Sta. Ana Hospital’s inclusion in World’s Best Hospitals 2026 – Philippines, where it ranked 25th among 35 local hospitals recognized by Newsweek and data firm Statista.
The ranking assessed over 2,500 hospitals worldwide based on expert recommendations, quality metrics, and patient experience.
Moreno credited the recognition to the city’s modernization of its district hospitals, particularly Sta. Ana Hospital, which upgraded facilities, expanded services, and strengthened clinical capability under the Manila City Health Cluster led by Dr. Grace Padilla and headed by Dr. Janet Tan.
During the pandemic, the hospital established a vaccine cold-chain facility and the Manila Molecular Testing Laboratory, becoming the only LGU-run district hospital with two types of molecular laboratories. It also opened a 33-bed infectious disease center and expanded ICU capacity.
Specialized services were likewise enhanced with the launch of a robotics-assisted rehabilitation center and an 11-seat dialysis facility offering free treatment. The hospital has since secured Level III General Hospital accreditation and earned high marks from the Department of Health for its COVID-19 response.
