Water concessioner Maynilad said on Monday, July 10, that the nearly 600,000 consumers, who will be affected by the water interruption in the next few days, are way less than those affected during the summer season.
"Medyo nabawasan natin ang maapektuhan at this time. Noon kasi, kasagsagan ng tag-init, mas malakas ang konsumo. Nagiging factor ang lower demand," Maynilad corporate communications head Jennifer Rufo said in a televised interview on Saturday.
According to Rufo, the 600,000 would face a nine-hour water interruption due to a smaller allocation after the water level in the Angat Dam dropped below its minimal operating level.
Meanwhile, in an interview with DZRH last week, Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) said that more than 632,000 will experience rotational service interruptions.
It said the 600,000 to be affected "is lower than the 1.5 million affected households in April 2023".
Effects will be felt in high areas while MWSS manages the water supply amidst El Niño.
