The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is appealing for longer operation hours in the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) to accommodate hundreds of passengers during this Holiday rush.
According to RH Christian Maño's report during DZRH Operation Tulong, MMDA acting chairman Romando 'Don' Artes said they are now coordinating with the managements of LRT-1 and MRT-3 in regards to the extension of train operations.
Artes said longer train operations would serve commuters going home to their respective provinces, mall employees, and consumers, who conduct shopping at night.
The MMDA Chief assured that there would be a sufficient number of MMDA personnel deployed on the roads, particularly along EDSA and in bus terminals.

The MRT-3 management earlier announced that commuters can expect continuous regular operations, except on the eves of Christmas and New Year, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.
As of this posting, the LRT-1 management has yet to post a train service hour schedule for Christmas and New Year.
