Two dogs named Marshall and Millions have passed away, and social media is abuzz with news of their tragic death at the hands of the Metropolitan Police.
Reports say the incident occurred after a man and his two bulldogs allegedly attacked a woman and her pet dog in east London.
After the police were alerted, a group of officers headed to the scene to have the man surrender the dogs.
Video footage of the incident showed the officers wielding a catcher pole, riot shield, and a gun.
The man tried to walk away, but he was tasered, and the officers fired a bullet into the dogs, killing them.
The Met Police defended the officers' actions, citing the dogs' aggressive behavior and the significant threat they posed.
"Officers attended the location where the aggressive behaviour of two dogs was of considerable concern and posed a significant threat to them," Met spokesperson said according to BBC.
"This is never an easy decision for any officer to take, but police have a duty to act where necessary before any further injury is caused," the statement continued," it added.
The incident sparked outrage on social media, with many people expressing their condemnation of the officers' actions.
The more that comes out about the shooting of Marshall and Millions, the harder it gets for @MPSTowerHam to defend their actions.
