The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons dominated the De La Salle University Green Archers, 97-67, in Game One of the UAAP Season Men's Basketball Tournament.

Harold Alarcon scored 21 while Rookie of the Year Francis Lopez finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds for UP to draw first blood on Wednesday, November 29, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

At the end of the first half, the Maroons already extended their lead, 53-41, after JD Cagulangan buried a buzzer-beater from downtown.

Michael Philips tallied 19 points, and Kevin Quiambao, who won the Most Valuable Player Award before the match, added 11 points as the Archers saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end.
