President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday urged key government agencies to step up efforts to improve the people's economic situation, saying that their efforts would be a "waste" if ordinary Filipinos did not benefit from them.

This was stated in a message delivered at Malacaan Palace during the oath-taking ceremony of officials from the National Amnesty Commission (NAM), National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), Marawi Compensation Board (MCB), and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU).

Marcos acknowledged in his speech that his administration had "many plans" to boost the economy's growth.

He, on the other hand, stated that the benefits of economic recovery will only be meaningful if they reach the people, particularly the poor.

Apart from efforts to alleviate poverty, the chief executive directed agencies to prioritize efforts to advance peace and strengthen national security.

The President urged the newly sworn-in officials to thoroughly investigate their organizations and determine what needed to be done so that the government could implement interventions that would benefit the people

Marcos urged officials from the four agencies to "work together," promising to support the causes represented by each.

He also expressed confidence that they would give their all in their respective roles.

Meanwhile, Marcos recognized the need to expedite the process of rehabilitating Marawi City, which was devastated by a five-month siege by Islamic militants in 2017.

He stated that the people of Marawi are counting on the government to return the city to its former glory.
