President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is scheduled to make a one-day working visit to the United Arab Emirates on November 26, the Presidential Communications Office announced on Saturday.
"The President will meet with the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi on the afternoon of that day," PCO said in a statement.
The meeting between the two leaders is expected to result in agreements that will strengthen bilateral relations and create areas of cooperation based on shared values and common interests.
Despite its short duration, the visit is poised to create meaningful goodwill and opportunities, deepening the ties between the Philippines and the UAE.
"The President will also convey the gratitude of the Philippine government to the leaders of a nation that has tapped Filipino talent, allowing it to flourish in an environment that fosters kindness, respect, and tolerance," said PCO.
Furthermore, Marcos expressed his regret to Filipinos in the UAE who had hoped for time with him, explaining that he must return to Manila immediately to personally oversee and inspect the ongoing relief and reconstruction efforts in communities affected by six consecutive typhoons.
Meanwhile, the PCO stated that Marcos' accompanying delegation has been reduced to "the barest minimum."
On October 15, Marcos announced that the UAE had pardoned a total of 143 Filipinos.
He expressed his gratitude to the UAE President for the kindness shown to Filipino workers in the Arab state.
