President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. is set to undertake a three-day state visit to Malaysia, from June 25 to June 28, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Friday.
In a press briefing, DFA Spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza said that the 16th King of Malaysia personally sent the invite to Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos.
“During the visit, the President will have an audience with the King of Malaysia and a meeting with the Prime Minister to identify new areas of synergy between the two countries,” she said.
The bilateral cooperation in the areas of agriculture, food security, tourism, digital economy, tourism, and people-to-people exchange is expected to be tackled.
According to the DFA spokesperson, the visit coincides with the celebration of the 68th anniversary of PH and Malaysia’s diplomatic relations.
Daza said Marcos will also meet with distinguished Filipino and Malaysian business leaders to enhance bilateral trade and investment and seek more economic opportunities
As part of his tradition when visiting countries, the President will meet the Filipino community in Malaysia to lay out his administration’s plans and programs for overseas Filipino workers (OFW).
The full names of Marcos’ delegation will be announced by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the DFA official noted.
Marcos will be embarking on a state visit just a day after he delivered his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 24.
