Malacañang reportedly confirmed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will sign the General Appropriations Act (GAA) on December 30.
As reported by RH Leth Narciso, PCO Secretary Cesar Chavez mentioned that the President is set to sign the 2025 national budget following the Rizal Day commemoration.
In a prior statement from Senator Imee Marcos, the ceremonial signing of the national budget for the upcoming year will occur on Monday morning at the Palace.
Marcos also previously stated that he will sign the PHP 6.352 trillion national budget for 2025 before the year ends, ensuring there will be no reenacted budget.
Furthermore, the president thoroughly reviewed the national budget in recent days, along with his economic managers, focusing particularly on the insertions that were not part of the original budget request.
As of this writing, there is no information yet on whether any changes have been made, if anything has been removed, or if the budget cuts in certain agencies have been restored.
On December 18, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced that the GAA will not be signed on December 20, citing the need for more time to conduct a comprehensive and detailed review.
