President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. believes that no one plans to assassinate Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, a self-proclaimed son of God, contrary to the latter's claim that there are plans to execute him.
"Wala naman gustong mag-assasinate sa kaniya. I don't think anyone will do that. Maybe he's just very..... Wala, hindi ko naiintindihan ang sinasabi niya. Bakit siya iaa-assinate?" Marcos laughingly said.
Quiboloy earlier alleged that the United States government conspired with the Marcos administration to eliminate him by either kidnapping or assassination.
The president speculated that the religious pastor's accusation may have sprung from his fear of confronting the issues he is facing.
"Hindi naman siguro. Hindi ko alam. Siguro natakot siya dahil sa mga pangyayari," he said.
Marcos urged Quibology to appear before the hearing in the Senate as well as in the House of Representatives.
"But again, the best way to diffuse the situation for him is to testify before the House and the Senate," he said.
Last week, the Senate and the House issued their respective subpoena to the religious pastor.
The Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality is probing the alleged abuses in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ under Quiboloy's leadership. The House Committee on Legislative Franchises is looking into the alleged franchise violations and franchise revocation of Sonshine Media Network International where Quiboloy is said to be an honorary chairman.
Quiboloy's legal counsel, Atty. Marie Dinah Tolentino Fuentes, formally received the subpoena ad testificandum from Senate last February 22.
