President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conveyed his unwavering solidarity with the Muslim community in the Philippines and abroad as they commemorate Eid’l Fitr, the culmination of the sacred month of Ramadan, in a national news announcement on Friday.
In his message, Marcos expressed his hope that Muslims, both at home and overseas, would deeply internalize and apply the teachings and values they have learned during the observance of Ramadan in their everyday lives.
He emphasized the importance of sustaining the virtues, principles, and practices that were wholeheartedly embraced during this holy period, and using them as the foundation of their characters as they continue to strive for righteous deeds and virtuous living.
"As you culminate the holy month of Ramadan by celebrating the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast, may you sustain the values, teachings, and practices that you have wholeheartedly discerned and embodied throughout this time," the chief executive said.
Marcos also emphasized the spirit of solidarity and inclusivity, stating that Filipinos stand in unison with the Muslim community in commemorating this solemn and joyous occasion, recognizing and embracing the Islamic faith as an integral part of the nation's collective consciousness.
He highlighted that despite the diversity of faiths in the country, it is through mutual respect, camaraderie, and love that differences can be bridged, and challenges can be overcome, resulting in a unified and harmonious society
"With our many faiths informing all our actions and bridging all our differences as a diverse set of peoples, we can transcend any challenge and still remain unified under the banners of camaraderie, respect, and love," he said.
The President further elaborated on the significance of Eid’l Fitr as a time for Muslims to express their gratitude to Allah for the strength to fast and seek forgiveness for any sins committed during the year.
