Marcos to inspect new Kamuning footbridge, busway station
by Luwela Amor05 March 2026

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. is set to inspect the newly constructed Kamuning Footbridge and busway station along EDSA in Quezon City at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 5.

According to a report by RH Leth Narciso on DZRH's Dos Por Dos, the inspection forms part of the government’s efforts to modernize the EDSA busway system, one of the flagship public transportation programs of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Joining the President during the site inspection are Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez and Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon.

The Kamuning project involves the rehabilitation of the EDSA Busway’s Bus Stop 3 and the construction of a new pedestrian footbridge designed to provide safer and more convenient access for commuters.

Officials said the upgraded structure is designed as an intermodal transport facility that will improve connectivity between pedestrian walkways and the EDSA busway station.

The new footbridge will replace the previous structure that pedestrians dubbed “Mount Kamuning” due to its steep height of about nine meters, or roughly 30 feet, which many commuters found difficult and exhausting to climb.

The original highly criticized 9-meter high Kamuning was constructed by the MMDA in October 2018 and opened on November 2018.

Construction of the new Kamuning Footbridge and the rehabilitation of the EDSA Kamuning Busway Station began in August 2025.

The demolition of the old footbridge was ordered by Marcos in June 2025 after concerns were raised about its excessive height and lack of accessibility for pedestrians.
