President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will welcome two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo and other Filipino athletes who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics at the Malacañang Palace on August 13.
The Filipino Olympians will arrive on Tuesday and their families will meet them at the Villamor Airbase.
They will then head to the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) for a welcome ceremony hosted by government officials before joining a heroes’ parade through key areas in Manila, culminating at the Palace.
Upon arrival at Malacañang, they will be welcomed by the President, First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, and the rest of the First Family.
A program will follow, during which President Marcos will present the athletes with well-deserved incentives and honors for their outstanding performance in representing the Philippines at the Paris Olympics.
Medalists will receive cash incentives as mandated by the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act. Gold medalists will receive P10 million, silver medalists will get P5 million, and bronze medalists will gain P2 million.
Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo secured two gold medals at this year's Olympics in the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Floor and Vault events. Meanwhile, Filipina boxers Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petacio each won silver medals in their respective women’s boxing divisions.
