Presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. said he would continue the "Build, Build, Build" program started by President Rodrigo Duterte, who remains mum on who he will endorse for the May elections.
Marcos, when asked if he would continue Duterte's ambitious infrastructure project, answered said: "Natural."
"Dahil nakikita naman natin talaga na napakaganda ng effect kaagad eh basta mabuksan," he told DZRH.
(Of course, because we can immediately see its good effects as long as they are opened.)
Marcos mentioned that as a benefit of the project, it opens remote communities and their products to businessmen.
"May isang area na walang kalsada, walang communication, bigla mong lalagyan [ng kalsada] ay magkakaroon ng negosyo roon dahil makakapasok na 'yung mga negosyante, mailabas na 'yung mga produkto," he said.
(If an area that has no roads, no communication, is granted [a road], there will be businesses there because businessmen would be able to enter their areas and export their products.)
The candidate's remarks came amid Duterte's silence on who he will endorse for the upcoming May elections.
Marcos's camp previously told reporters that they are still "hopeful" for Duterte's endorsement for the elections, describing such as "very valuable."
Duterte previously told Filipinos in a speech that they can choose which "Ilocano they want in Malacañang." Marcos himself is from Ilocos Norte and enjoys the support of the so-called "Solid North."
But before this, Duterte also expressed his dislike to Marcos and called him a weak leader.
"Hindi ako bilib. He is a weak leader. Totoo 'yan, di ako naninira ng tao. Talangang weak kasi spoiled child, only son," Duterte previously said in a speech.
(I am not impressed. He is a weak leader. That is true, I am not smearing him. He is really weak because he is a spoiled child, an only son.)
