Presumptive president Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will surely attend the proclamation ceremony once Congress completes the canvassing and make his win official.
"He will attend. We're looking at around 4 p.m., between 4 to 6 p.m. probably that the canvassing will be completed and that president-elect Bongbong and vice president-elect Inday Sara Duterte will be officially declared the winners and proclaimed by the joint houses of Congress," said Marcos' spokesperson and incoming executive secretary Atty. Vic Rodriguez.
On Tuesday, the two chambers of Congress convened as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) to start the canvassing of votes for the presidential and vice-presidential elections.
Meanwhile, the attendance of presumptive vice president Sara Duterte-Carpio at the expected proclamation is still unsure as she has prior commitments in Iloilo and Antique, where she would also attend the wake of a supporter who allegedly took his own life after being bullied online.
"She will endeavor to attend the proclamation and exert her best efforts to make it on time to Manila," her spokesperson Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco said.
Nevertheless, Frasco said that Duterte-Carpio was informed about the possible proclamation date by the legal counsel of the Lakas-CMD party.
On Tuesday, Congress deferred its vote canvassing in some provinces due to missing COCs.
