President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has tested positive for COVID-19, according to Malacañang on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
"President Bongbong Marcos has tested positive for COVID-19. Upon medical advice, he will observe a period of isolation for five days," the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said.
PCO, however, said that the President remains fit to carry out his duties and will be continuing his scheduled meetings via teleconference.
"Updates on his health will be provided as available," it added.
Meanwhile, Marcos encourages the public to take precautions to safeguard their health, such as vaccinating and wearing a voluntary mask when entering crowded places.
It can be recalled from July 2022, when he also tested positive for COVID-19 just after his inauguration on June 30, 2022.
In March 2020, when the first stages of the pandemic began, Marcos also caught the COVID-19 virus.
