President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Tuesday confirmed that he spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and told him that the Philippines supports Ukraine in its pursuit of peace.
In a Twitter post, Marcos said he was pleased to talk with Zelensky over the phone on Monday, Feb. 13.
"I told him that we in the Philippines are watching with admiration, the bravery and the nationalism that has been displayed by the Ukrainians during this crisis," he said.
The chief executive added that the country joins Ukraine in its desire to achieve a "peaceful resolution" to the ongoing conflict it currently faces.
"Mr. President, we are with you in your search for peace," Marcos said.
Zelensky first thanked Marcos for giving his support to Ukraine during their first phone call.
He said they discussed "further deepening" cooperation on international platforms.
