

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday signed into law the proposed P6.793-trillion national budget for fiscal year 2026.
The ceremonial signing took place at the Ceremonial Hall of Malacañang Palace. It was witnessed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Finance Secretary Frederick Go, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Acting Secretary Rolando Toledo, Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Arsenio Balisacan, Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo, Senate President Tito Sotto, House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy, and other key government officials, senators, and congressmen.
Under the 2026 national budget, the education sector received the largest allocation with P1.3 trillion, followed by the health sector with P448 billion. Agriculture was allocated P297 billion, while social services were allotted P270 billion.
Meanwhile, Marcos Jr. vetoed P92.5 billion worth of projects under unprogrammed appropriations (UA).
In his speech, Marcos Jr. assured the public that the national budget is aimed at public service and will not be diverted to corruption.
Earlier, Recto guaranteed that the 2026 GAA complies not only with legal and technical requirements but, more importantly, addresses the needs of the Filipino people.
