President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday firmly rejected the call from his former Executive Secretary, Atty. Vic Rodriguez, to undergo a hair follicle drug test, asserting that such a request is unrelated to public trust.

"No. Why should I do that? Public trust, public office has nothing to do with a follicle test, please. Wala namang koneksyon ‘yung sinasabi niya," Marcos said during an interview with the media.

This was Marcos' response to Rodriguez's call for the President to undergo a hair follicle drug test, emphasizing the constitutional principle that "public office is a public trust."

He then questioned why Rodriguez would have worked for him in the first place if he believed the President was using illegal drugs.

"He’s always had that weakness every time when he was still working for me. If he believed in what he was saying, why did he work for me?" said Marcos.

In 2024, Rodriguez urged Marcos to take a hair follicle drug test to settle the claims of drug use once and for all.

This came after former President Rodrigo Duterte allegedly accused Marcos of using drugs, calling him "bangag."

However, in 2021, it was also Rodriguez who revealed to the media the drug test that Marcos took, which yielded a negative result.

Prior to his appointment as Executive Secretary in May 2022, the former Palace official served as Marcos' chief of staff and spokesperson.
