President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for women's rights and vowed to "vigorously" oppose anything that hinders their progress, during the country's observance of International Women’s Day and National Women’s Month.
"The Bagong Pilipinas we are building will always advocate for women’s rights and vigorously oppose anything threatening their progress," Marcos said in his official message.
"We will never grow weary of retelling the stories of remarkable women so we can inspire a new generation of young girls to make their mark on society," he added.
The President drew a comparison between women and Inang Bayan, highlighting their dynamic and ever-changing nature, and stressing that being a woman requires both resilience and strength.
Furthermore, he highlighted that many of the advancements seen today are the result of the countless contributions of women across generations who have fought, struggled, and advocated for various noble causes.
"In the Philippines, women have played a crucial role in shaping our nation’s narrative," said Marcos.
"From the babaylans, katipuneras, and Filipina guerillas of the past to the frontliners, professional trailblazers, and visionary leaders of today, our country has produced millions of empowered women who gave their knowledge, talents, and even their lives for the sake of many," he added.
Marcos called on the public to acknowledge the importance of women as an "unshakable" force that nurtures, perseveres, and redefines.
He also urged everyone to actively support women in their mission to uplift both the nation and the global community.
