President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon to conduct a sweeping review of the DPWH’s budget under proposed 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP).
During a press briefing in Malacañang on Wednesday, September 3, Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro said that the President underscored that the review should result in concrete reforms to strengthen "transparency, accountability, and the proper use of the people's money" or public funds.
Marcos tressed that resources must be channeled into infrastructure projects that truly serve and benefit the Filipino people.
The directive comes amid mounting controversy and an ongoing investigation into the agency’s alleged flood control projects anomalies.
