President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. confirmed on Tuesday that there will be a major reorganization in his cabinet, as the appointment ban of political candidates, who lost in the 2022 National and Local Election, already ended on May 9.
He confirmed this in an interview with the media in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, ahead of his participation at the 42nd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.
"Oo, marami, talagang gagamitin ko 'yung one year, asahan n'yo iyon, by the end of the first year para maging maliwanag," Marcos said.
"In a sense, tapos na ang OJT (on-the-job training) ng lahat ng tao and we've seen who performs well and who will be important to what we are doing," he added.
The President said this move is more of "a reorganization" than a "reshuffle".
Before he went to the United States for his five-day state visit on April 30, Marcos already pronounced that politicians, who ran but lost during the last election, may be appointed before the start of his second term in the post.
"We have to look at, marami naman talagang magaling na hindi nanalo sa eleksyon na gustong tumulong. We'll certainly look into that," the President earlier told reporters.
According to Article IX Section 6 of the 1987 Constitution, "no candidate who has lost in any election shall, within one year after such election, be appointed to any office in the Government or any Government-owned or controlled corporations or in any of their subsidiaries."
