In an appeal to the Filipino people, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. called for unity and solidarity with Muslims as they observe Eid’l Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, which marks the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage.

In a statement, Marcos emphasized the importance of joining Muslims in honoring the story of Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God's command.

“Let us also join them in solidarity as they honor Ibrahim who–when commanded by Allah to sacrifice his own son – demonstrated utmost willingness and obedience, only to be halted at the last moment when abiding faith was proven,” he said.

The President acknowledged the significant role of Muslim Filipinos in fostering the nation's diverse fabric of creeds.

“Truly, our nation is a land of plentiful creeds that is further nurtured by Muslim Filipinos who help weave our rich tapestry of diversity,” Marcos pointed out.

He also emphasized that by openly embracing and respecting each other's differences, society can build a more prosperous and harmonious future for all.

“Let their devotion to these beliefs shine above all throughout the festivities and further strengthen the bond among our families, friends, and communities,” Marcos added.

He commended the warmth and kindness exhibited by Muslim Filipinos not only during this special occasion but throughout the year, recognizing it as a fundamental element in achieving collective success.

The President encouraged reflection on the values of sacrifice and selflessness embodied by Eid'l Adha, emphasizing the importance of peace, unity, and mutual respect as shared principles among Muslims and individuals from all around the world.

“Let us all be reminded of the importance of sacrifice and selflessness that mirror the essence of this occasion so that we can join hands with our Muslim brothers and sisters from all over the world in the spirit of peace, unity, and mutual respect,” he said.

Eid’l Adha, also referred to as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the two major holidays celebrated in Islam.
