President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Wednesday, Oct. 11 said he was saddened by the reported death of two Filipinos amid the ongoing conflict between Israeli forces and the military group Hamas, emphasizing that the Philippines condemns terror and violence.

“My heart is heavy upon hearing confirmation of the deaths of two Filipinos in Israel. The Philippines condemns these killings and stands firmly against the ongoing terror and violence,” Marcos said in a official statement released by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

According to PCO, the President asserted that his administration will "remain resolute in the pursuit of lasting peace in line with the United Nations (UN) resolutions and international laws."

Marcos vowed a continued support to affected overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and the Filipino community residing in the war-torn country.

Last Sunday, he instructed concerned government agencies to closely coordinate with the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Israel to secure the safety of affected Filipinos.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) first confirmed that two Filipinos perished amidst the raging war.

In a statement, expressed the country's readiness "to work with other countries towards a long-lasting resolution to the conflict, in accordance with pertinent United Nations (UN) Security Council resolutions and the general principles of international law."
