President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. on Friday refused to comment in the speakership row in the House of Representatives.
"I won't make any comments about the Speakership as of yet," Marcos said before giving his speech at the General Assembly of the League of Provinces of the Philippines held in Pampanga.
He made the remark amidst the reported ouster plot against his cousin House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
According to reports, it was former senior deputy house speaker and Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who planned the alleged coup.
But Arroyo immediately refuted the allegations, saying that getting elected as speaker of the lower house is no longer part of her political objectives.
“This has been my position ever since Speaker Romualdez was elected in the 19th Congress, and I continue to urge my Lakas-CMD party mates to support our party President in that role," she added.
Arroyo issued the statement a day after she was removed as senior deputy speaker.
