President-elect Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has named four more members of his Cabinet on Monday, May 30, which includes broadcaster Erwin Tulfo as the next to lead the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

In a press briefing, incoming press secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles announced that Marcos appointed the following personalities, who have all accepted the roles, as part of his administration:

  • Erwin Tulfo for DWSD
  • Amenah Pangandaman for the Department of Budget and Management (BDM)
  • Ma. Christina Frasco for the Department of Tourism (DOT)
  • Ivan John Enrile Uy for the Department of Information and Communications (DICT)
  • Naida Angping for the Presidential Management Staff

Tulfo, who is the brother of Senator-elect Raffy Tulfo, currently works with the government media People’s Television Network.

Following the announcement, Tulfo expressed gratitude to Marcos for trusting him to lead the DSWD.

"Ang tanging maipapangako ko lamang ay sisikapin ko na matugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayang mahirap at nangangailangan," Tulfo said in his Facebook post.

[I know there are a lot of tasks waiting for me in the DSWD. My only promise is to strive to respond to the needs of our countrymen who are poor and are in need.]

In 2019, Tulfo was criticized for making rants against DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista after the latter supposedly failed to grant him an interview on his radio program.

Tulfo has apologized for his rants, however, he stood by the criticisms he made against Bautista.
