Former Interior Secretary Chief and former Senator Mar Roxas on Friday, Oct. 6 joined President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. in the distribution of rice to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) benefiaries in Roxas City in Capiz.

In his key address, Marcos mentioned that he and Mar are “old friends.”

“Kung hindi niyo pa alam, kami ni Mar matagal na kami magkaibigan at kahit na hindi kami magkapanig kung minsan sa politika, matagal kami nagsama sa New York,” he shared, adding that they had many “bachelor adventures” while they were staying in the said city.

The President said he was glad to reconnect with the former Interior Secretary.

“Mabuti naman at nagkaroon kami ng pagkakataon na magkita pa sa Capiz,” he added.

In a video uploaded by Ronald Aguiles, it can be seen that Marcos and Roxas are walking side-to-side after the rice distribution.

"[Sir] I salute you, and may God bless you," the former Senator said while gesturing a salue, and later initiated a handshake with the President.

Meanwhile, in a brief statement, the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) said the local government officials of Capiz personally sent the invite to Mar, who hails from Capiz.

"He is from Capiz. He was invited by local officials of Capiz,” it said.

Roxas was a former Liberal party (LP) standard-bearer.

From 2012 to 2015, he was the Secretary of interior and local government department under the administration of former President Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III.
