President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. led the inauguration of the Healthway Cancer Care Hospital (HCCH) located along South Union Drive, Arca South Estate in Taguig City.
In his speech, Marcos said the opening of the HCCH “will open a way to access to quality cancer-care for many Filipinos.”
“Moreover, this endeavor highlights our strong partnership between the public and the private sectors in strengthening our healthcare system which is aligned with the administration’s Philippine Health Facility Development Plan and the Integrated Cancer Program. All these are geared towards our goal of universal healthcare,” he continued.
According to the President, the HCCH’s “modern and state-of-the-art equipment” and its “medical professionals and oncologists” will help “revolutionize the cancer care services industry” in the country.
He added that these efforts will “positively reflect on the country’s growing potential as a leading healthcare destination in Asia.”
Marcos then urged the public to have their regular check-ups, as he cited that cancer is the most dreaded illness and third leading cause of death in the Philippines.
Based on the information video shown during the inauguration, HCCH will focus on four Centers of Excellence, including breast cancer, colorectal cancer, head and neck cancer, and lung cancer.
“One of the biggest benefits of the Center of Excellence is that we will screen patients and if we detect cancer in the mammogram or ultrasound. They can proceed to biopsy, all in one day. This is a big factor. It saves time, days of waiting, anxiety,” HCCH Breast Cancer Center of Excellence head Dr. Aldine Basa said.
HCCH aims to prioritize not only the cancer patient but also their families.
