According to the report of RH Leth Narciso, Marcos led the raising of the Philippine flag and the laying of flowers at the statue of national hero Jose Rizal.
Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief Romeo Brawner Jr. and National Historical Commission of the Philippines Chairperson Liza Guerero joined Marcos during the flag-raising and laying of flowers.
Meanwhile, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos and sons Ferdinand Alexander "Sandro" Marcos and William Vincent Marcos were also present at the event.
Included in the ceremony was the recital of the oath to the Philippine flag followed by the "Bagong Pilipinas" hymn and pledge.
The Chief Executive in his earlier statement said that the "true spirit of freedom can be seen in every Filipino who fights squarely every day."
He lauded the admirable characteristics of every freedom-loving Filipino exemplified by the country’s farmers, fishermen, teachers, and soldiers whose battles are the same as those of their forebears.
“As we celebrate the founding of our nation today, let us dedicate ourselves to the challenging but rewarding task of realizing the full potential of the Filipinos and building a Bagong Pilipinas—one that truly embodies the ideals of a just, progressive, and independent Republic,” said the President.
